Confidentiality & Privacy Policy

The law protects the relationship between a client and a psychotherapist, and information cannot be disclosed without written permission.

Exceptions include:

  • Suspected child abuse or dependent adult or elder abuse, for which I am required by law to report this to the appropriate authorities immediately.

​

  • If a client is threatening serious bodily harm to another person/s, I must notify the police and inform the intended victim.

​

  • If a client intends to harm himself or herself, I will make every effort to enlist their cooperation in ensuring their safety. If they do not cooperate, I will take further measures without their permission that are provided to me by law in order to ensure their safety.

  • When an individual pays for therapy through self-pay opposed to utilizing insurance, both confidentiality and treatment remain between you and Orchid Counseling. Treatment decisions, length of therapy, confidentiality and many other important decisions are always kept between you and your therapist.

If you are experiencing a mental health crisis, please do not use this website to seek immediate help. I am unable to respond to urgent messages in real time. Instead, please call 911, go to your nearest emergency room, or reach out to one of the following 24/7 resources:

Pursuant to House Bill 4224 (89th Regular Session), effective September 1, 2025, and Section 181.105 of the Texas Health and Safety Code, Orchid Counseling PLLC provides the following information to ensure consumers are informed of their rights regarding health care records and complaint processes.
 

Your Rights as a Consumer
You have the right to take the following actions:
1. Request Your Health Care Records
You may request access to or copies of your health care records directly from Orchid Counseling PLLC.
How to Request Records:
Submit a written request (email or written correspondence) requesting your health care records.
Include your full name, date of birth, and preferred contact information.
Requests will be fulfilled in accordance with applicable Texas law.
2. Contact the Council
Consumers may contact the appropriate Council for additional information or assistance.

3. File a Consumer Complaint
